As Martha’s Vineyard continues its shift towards clean energy, ACE MV is leading the charge with new opportunities in green jobs. Last year, under Executive Director Alex Bullen Coutts, ACE MV secured an Equity Planning and Capacity Grant, marking a huge milestone in training the island’s future workforce in fields like HVAC, solar energy, and energy logic. Over the next year, ACE MV will focus on identifying employer needs, expanding partnerships, and educating the community about the exciting career paths emerging in clean energy. From career nights to school outreach, this initiative will help shape the Vineyard’s green workforce for years to come.
By collaborating with the Clean Energy Center and local employers, ACE MV is preparing to launch training programs designed to support the island’s energy transition. Engaging with high schools, charter schools, and community partners, they aim to create accessible pathways to sustainable careers, offering students and parents an alternative to traditional college routes. With green infrastructure and skilled jobs on the rise, ACE MV’s efforts will pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future for the island.
This work directly supports Climate Action Plan (CAP) Economic Security Goal #1: By 2040, we have in place the framework to adapt the Vineyard economy with the diversification, resilience, and sustainability needed to meet the Island’s challenges and opportunities from climate change; Objective #3: By 2030, we have a local, capable, and motivated workforce through a job training network for local residents.
