Wampanoag Voices: Enriching the Climate Conversation

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Martha’s Vineyard Commission and the Natural Resources Department of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) invite you to a powerful and personal event: Wampanoag Voices: Enriching the Climate Conversation. From 3–5 PM at Stillpoint in West Tisbury, this gathering offers a chance to reflect deeply on the climate crisis through the lens of Wampanoag identity, history, and resilience.

The event features a panel of Wampanoag women sharing their lived experiences and perspectives on climate change: Alexis Moreis (Chappaquiddick Wampanoag, Tribal Historic Preservation Officer), Jada Randolph (Aquinnah Wampanoag, advocate with the Northeast Native Network of Kinship and Healing), Jannette Vanderhoop (Aquinnah Wampanoag, Martha’s Vineyard Commission representative and Aquinnah Cultural Center board member), and Jen Randolph (Aquinnah Wampanoag, Executive Director of the Northeast Native Network of Kinship and Healing).

Expect a heartfelt conversation, a moment of reflection in nature, a Q&A, and an opportunity to set personal intentions for climate action. Space is limited, so please preregister by emailing durkee@mvcommission.org. Join us to listen, learn, and reframe the climate conversation with care, connection, and Indigenous wisdom.
