Cape Light Compact (CLC), a municipal aggregator serving Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, focuses on energy efficiency and renewable energy. It offers a range of programs, including energy assessments and incentives for residential and business energy upgrades, helping to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.
Cape Light Compact remains focused on finalizing its 2022-2024 energy efficiency plan. This plan has achieved several milestones, including increased Home Energy Assessments (HEA) and a new small business offering for main streets. The partnership with Vineyard Power has played a key role in community engagement, driving HEA participation to 21%. Looking forward, Cape Light Compact encourages residents and businesses to sign up for energy assessments and consider long-term benefits of energy upgrades. Consider subscribing to CLC’s newsletter for updates on program offerings. Ongoing education and collaboration, particularly with local towns and initiatives, is essential to fostering climate resilience.
This work directly supports Climate Action Plan (CAP) Energy Transformation Goal #1: Reduce fossil fuel use on the Island from the 2018 baseline, 50% by 2030 and 100% by 2040 (adopted by all 6 towns on Martha’s Vineyard and the MVC Commissioners); and Goal #2: Increase the percentage of our electricity use that is renewable and generated regionally (within New England).
